JOON, PILOT EPISODE SYNOPSIS: In the capital of North Korea, PYONGYANG, Joon visits with her father, Lt. BAY PARK. We see that life in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is a dark, somber and regimented existence.
Later that day, at the Special Forces graduation  ceremony, the Forces Commander Superior, a top-ranked master in martial arts, challenges a cadet to a bout. He chooses Joon.  Against all odds,  Joon wins., embarrassing him. She is demoted and assigned to be a prison guard in a notorious gulag.
As Joon struggles to accept her place in this bleak North Korean prison camp, she stumbles on a secret laboratory where poisonous gases are tested on children.  
Joon and her bunkmate, SOO, mount a daring rescue operation to save as many of the children they can. Joon and Soo out wit, out run and out shoot a regiment of soldiers as they move the children to safety.
A crack regiment is sent after them with orders to kill them all, children included.  
She escapes and ends up on the run-down farm of BO, the handsome son of a legendary American missionary. Bo, the prodigal, has squandered his father’s inheritance on booze, women and gambling.
Despite a world of difference between them, Bo and Joon fall in love.
Joon saves Bo from himself, and they build a new life together in China with the unexpected help of local Chinese townspeople and officials.
But all their hopes and plans are suddenly interrupted when teams of North Korean agents sweep the area looking for North Korean traitors. Joon, eight months pregnant, is arrested then dumped into a truck bound for North Korea. Now she faces an unimaginable horror as she is forcibly returned to her prison camp to confront the very men she betrayed.   
She gives birth in the prison camp and just when it seems absolutely sure Joon and her newborn son are going to suffer torture and execution, Joon overcomes her captors and the race to freedom is on again. This time chances are even worse than before. Now she is running from the full force of the camp militia through the mountains...with her infant son in her arms.
