THE THIEF FROM FIVE POINTS

A FOURTEEN YEAR GIRL TAKES ON THE GANGS OF NEW YORK
It's Christmas time, 1865, and New York is a city of stark contrasts. The upper classes live in mansions, dine sumptuously, travel in horse and buggies bundled in furs, and live lives of ease. The poor struggle to eat and stay warm, and the destitute live in deplorable conditions in the infamous Five Points district where crime and disease make their lives “brutish and short.”
Like a butterfly who can’t decide on a resting place, 14 year old Letti, flits between the two worlds; serving as a maid in a grand house and surreptitiously working for Marm, the rogue queen of Five Points, as a thief.
She is well on her way to the thieving hall of fame when her young brother is kidnapped by a vicious Five Points gang. Suddenly Letti’s life is thrown into turmoil as she takes on the gangs of New York, betrays her boss, and worst of all, falls in love.
Thief is a Christmas movie unlike any Christmas movie ever produced for the youth market. It is dark, sometimes frightening, totally engaging and ultimately full of genuine hope. It is an authentic and inspiring story set in the final year of the Civil War.
